Caryn Kayton

Owner

Hi I’m Caryn, CEO of Caryn’s Bridals, Formals & Tuxedos. After graduating from Longwood University with 2 degrees in education, I tried teaching and realized it wasn’t for me. I had learned to sew at a young age and I loved to play store as a child. My dream had always been to have my own store. That dream became a reality when I opened Caryn’s Creations, a fabric and craft store. My first employee made her wedding gown and after her wedding displayed it in our storefront window. People kept coming in asking if we sold wedding dresses; I saw an opportunity and seized it! It still amazes me that I was able to take something that gave me joy as a child and turn it into a successful career. I’ve been “playing store” for 36 years now! For me, family is everything – Success is a life filled with people you love. I have two sons and three grandchildren, Cooper, Camden, and Graham. I enjoy every minute I get to spend with them!

Olivia Rumsey

Assistant Manager

Hi, I’m Olivia! I am a VCU graduate with a BS degree in Marketing & Personal Selling and I’m a proud member of Phi Mu! I’ve been a consultant at Caryn’s since I was 17. I always wanted to work here when I was younger; this was my first job and I’m still in love! One of my hobbies that really got me started in this industry was pageants. I was Miss Virginia United States in 2017 and many of my pageant gowns from years before came from Caryn’s! Social media is my niche at the shop because it makes my day seeing all of our brides smiling faces. My absolute favorite thing when I’m working with a bride is the look on her face when she knows a dress is “the one”! I love building friendships with my brides and we stay in touch even after the wedding day.

Latrice

Bridal Consultant

Hi, my name is Latrice and I am a bridal consultant at Caryn’s Bridals. I am not only a native of Farmville, but I bought my bridal gown at Caryn’s 25 years ago! It gives me such pleasure to now see generations visit and purchase their wedding gowns here. Living in Farmville all of my life, I have felt at home from my very first day of work! My goal is to pass on that feeling to every bride that I have the privilege of helping.

I love being a mother to my wonderful sons – Kyri and Khalid and am happily married to my best friend Marlow.

Madison

Bridal Consultant

I’m Madison! I graduated from Buckingham High School in ’17 and have been working at Caryn’s since 2019. My favorite part about working at Caryn’s is helping brides embrace how beautiful they are. (Not going to lie, I’ve gotten emotional with brides when they find “the one!”). When I’m not at Caryn’s, you can find me working next door at the Vintage Antique Shack or curled up in bed binge watching Grey’s Anatomy.

Joan

Office Manager

I’m Joan Simpson and I’m the Office Manager here at Caryn’s. I’ve worked here for eight years, but Caryn and I have been friends for thirty-five years. I very much enjoy meeting people–I help out most every weekend in our alterations department and I love chatting with our brides about their plans for the big day!
